QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, lead, schedule, and train quality control inspectors.
- Mentor and coach QC staff on inspection methods, testing procedures, safety requirements, and documentation practices.
- Ensure team adherence to company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Inspect and test raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform routine “floor checks” to confirm procedures are followed and measuring equipment is properly calibrated.
- Place nonconforming material on hold as needed and document issues within the NCR system.
- Maintain accurate quality records, including inspection results, defect data, corrective actions, and customer complaints.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues and participate in cross-functional teams to identify root causes.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Manufacturing and other departments.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements to enhance product reliability and reduce defects.
- Review and analyze production records, test results, and quality trends in collaboration with the Quality Manager.
- Communicate quality findings, recommendations, and performance metrics to internal stakeholders.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable quality systems such as ISO, Six Sigma, or other industry standards.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of quality control methods, tools, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- High attention to detail for accurate inspections, documentation, and reporting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership ability to supervise, train, and motivate a quality team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of quality control or quality assurance experience; prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Six Sigma, ISO 9001, or other industry-related quality certifications are preferred but not required.
