Position Title:  Engineer

Area:  Hampton, VA

Department:  Nuclear



The Engineer reports directly to the Nuclear Service Center Manager.  Together they form a team that is responsible for all aspects of a service center order from its acceptance to its shipment from the factory. 



  1. Develop and submit customer-facing technical documents including: drawings of pump components & assemblies, procedures, bills of material, installation & operating manuals, and other communications, as requested.
  2. Carry out engineering design activities that meet all applicable ASME Code requirements as needed
  3. Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance Manual and procedures in the management of assigned projects 
  4. Manage the oversight of projects including cost containment and deliverables as well as the overarching needs of the organization.  
  5. Organize and lead meetings necessary for compliance and project management. 
  6. Develop, identify and act on opportunities and threats of projects in order to adjust deviations in the time of delivery, quality, cost and service. 
  7. Responsible for the Repair Project Manager portions of the quality program as well as pump inspection, evaluation, basic engineering, quotation and generation of shop paperwork focused on the repair and manufacture of pumps of various sizes and orientation per ASME and customer specifications. 
  8. Coordinate subcontracted drafting & engineering analysis (including FEA, seismic, CFD, reed critical frequency etc.) with qualified vendors 
  9. Coordinate, and provide project leadership for all phases of order for new equipment, aftermarket, and rework equipment to meet or exceed the customers contractual, technical, commercial, on-time delivery, and performance requirements within the anticipated profit level for the order. 
  10. Guarantee compliance with each purchase order (order entry) received, based on agreements with the customer in the contract, for delivery time, quality of equipment and information and level of service. 
  11. Work safely and promote a safe working environment.

Bachelor Degree - Mechanical Engineering (preferred)

Associates - Drafting



AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor - 2+ years (strongly preferred)

Microsoft Office products including; Outlook, Excel, & Word, Adobe Acrobat - 2+years

Pump Repair - 5 years (plus)



The Engineer can be trained for the Nuclear facility but is successful if they have any of the following skills, including:  AutoCAD drafting skills; Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software (strongly preferred); an understanding of the Baan or other (ERP) planning systems; general application knowledge of API 610, ASME section III and Nuclear utility requirements for stamped and safety related pumps; familiarity with general industry and manufacturing processes;  knowledge of the various Ruhrpumpen products including vertical and horizontal pumps and repair procedures;  Good communication skills both oral and written;  Above average computer skills;  Great customer service skills are required for inside sales contact with customers, salesmen, etc.
