Journeyman Mechanic

Position Title:  Journeyman Mechanic

– Main Objective

The Mechanic position will be responsible to follow all requirements of the Quality Program.  The candidate must be able to Disassemble, assembly, clean, inspect and re-assembly both large and small pumps of various sizes and orientation. 



  1. Basic rigging utilizing, chains, straps, load bars to move complete and partial equipment and parts.
  2. Safe operation of overhead crane, forklift and other lifting equipment.
  3. Disassembly and assembly of pumps and equipment using mechanical experience, reference prints, sketches, manuals and or verbal instruction, following safe work practices.
  4. Documents as found conditions and clearances during assembly.
  5. Will be required to clean by chemical or abrasive means disassembled equipment and parts.
  6. Performs inspection of disassembled equipment including visual, dimensional, failure analysis and makes recommendations for repair work scope.
  7. Ensures safe and correct operation of advanced hand tools including, torch, presses, impact, torque equipment, and micrometers of all types.
  8. Documents assembly clearances, lifts, and end play.
  9. Understands and operates hydro-test, alignment, and balance equipment.
  10. Basic woodworking skills to box and crate parts and equipment.
  11. Furnishes own hand tools necessary to perform duties.
  12. Instruct and provide assistance to others as needed.
  13. Maintains safe, clean and orderly work area.
  14. Follows appropriate handling and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with EPA regulations.
  15. Performs all work in accordance with established safety practices and rules.
  16. Performs other related duties such as failure analysis and makes recommendations for repair work scope.
  17. Travel to customer’s site to provide field service including but not limited to Installation and Removal of Pumps, Pump startup, Failure Analysis, etc.




HS Diploma or GED (required)

Vo-Tech or equal experience (preferred)



Assembly - 1-2 Yrs

Mfg Environment - 6 months



Must be able to read and write English.  Must have thorough knowledge in the preparation of and use hand, pneumatic, and other tools.  Must be capable disassembling and assembling parts per blueprints, BOM, and sketches.  Must be able to hold to tight tolerances per print specifications.  Able to read and interpret blueprints.  Must be knowledgeable in assembling parts, and quality control and safety.   Thorough understanding of all company safety and environmental practices.  Strong quality focus.  Strong team player.  Must be reliable, dependable, and able to work overtime as required including weekends and holidays.  Requires strong math skills:  add, subtract, multiply, divide, algebra.  Must be able to read various mic’s to hold to tolerances as required.

Incumbents in this classification are required to stand and walk throughout an 8 hour workday. Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently.  The requirements of this position include close vision and, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts. Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination. Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
